Yankees and Orioles to play in pivotal Game 5

BRONX, N.Y. -- The Orioles evened the American League Division Series at 2 games apiece Thursday night with a 2-1 win over the Yankees in 13 innings.

Baltimore's J.J. Hardy drove in Manny Machado with a double in the top of the 13th inning to break a 1-1 tie. The hit came off Yankees pitcher David Phelps.

The Orioles opened the scoring in the top of the fifth inning on a solo home run by Nate McLouth off Yankees starter Phil Hughes.

The Yankees got their only run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Derek Jeter led off the inning with a double. A sacrifice bunt by Ichiro Suzuki moved Jeter over to third. After a Mark Teixeira walk, Jeter scored on a groundout by Robinson Cano.

Hughes allowed one run on four hits over 6.2 innings. He struck out eight and walked three.

Orioles starter Joe Saunders allowed just one run on three hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out five and walked four.

The Orioles bullpen combined for 7.1 scoreless innings, allowing just four hits.

The Yankees and Orioles will play Game 5 Friday at Yankee Stadium. The game starts at 5:07 p.m.

CC Sabathia will start for the Yankees. He will be opposed by Jason Hammel.
