MENANDS, N.Y. -- Hundreds of fitness fans tried to dance their ways into the Guiness Book of World Records in Albany. The Riverview Center transformed into a giant outdoor dance studio on Saturday.
Rezultz Training and AlbanyZumba.com hoped to organize the largest Zumba class ever. The previous record, which was set last year in Mexico, had 3,869 participants. This local attempt unfortunately came up short, but a portion of the proceeds from the event will go towards breast cancer research.
"We love the fact that 207 people trusted a company that they didn't know about, and helped us out with this event. It's a win, it's a win all the way around. You can't beat anything about this event," said James Rigney, Rezultz Training owner.
There was also plenty of pink in the crowd, as the Susan G. Komen Foundation was on site. The foundation endorsed the event and collected donations in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
