GALLUPVILLE, N.Y. -- A man is dead after a fire in Gallupville.
Schoharie County 911 received a call around 4 p.m. Saturday for heavy smoke on Route 443. When firefighters arrived, they put out a chair fire and also found a deceased male identified as 59-year-old James Clause.
Assistant Fire Chief Michael Boomhower said, "For an unattended male subject and upon our arrival, we found a heavy smoke condition in the residence. "
There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
