GLENS FALLS, N.Y. -- Glens Falls residents came out on Sunday to learn about the issues affecting older Americans.
The AARP's "You've Earned a Say" tour came to the city. People could get their questions answered about things like Medicare and Social Security. The organization said events like this are a good way to offer balanced information about what's being discussed in Washington.
David McNally of AARP said, "Social Security and Medicare are both earned benefits. People have paid into them, they're expecting those benefits to be there for them. So they're really an earned benefit. And for people who are retiring who are taking advantage of those benefits now, it's very important, but it's important for people of all ages who are paying into that system."
Sunday marked the fourth stop for the tour New York State. AARP plans to make similar stops in all 50 states, in an effort to engage older Americans about the issues affecting them.
