BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. -- A Saratoga Springs man who pleaded guilty to making terroristic threats against local school children was sentenced in Saratoga County Court.
Brent Dickinson, 34, was sentenced to one to three years in prison for attempting to make a terrorist threat in March. While the exact details are sealed, Dickinson admitted to threatening to harm children at a local school last March.
As part of his sentence, he'll be forced to stay away from Saratoga County schools upon his release and continue his mental health counseling.
Saratoga County District Attorney Jim Murphy said, "People send their kids to school to make sure that they learn and are safe. They shouldn't be worrying about being killed or injured. Our job is to make sure they go have a safe environment, and so I think we did the appropriate thing, law enforcement did, and I think we'd do it again if it happens again. I think that's what our job is."
Dickinson was also arrested for making a threat against President Obama. That case is pending and is being handled in federal court.
