FORT ANN, N.Y. -- Washington County Department of Emergency Services Director William Cook said, "They're huge!"

An eyewitness who missed being hit called 911 shaken and concerned a car was trapped, prompting responders to investigate further and even go as far as a helicopter with thermal imaging, but they found nothing.

Cook said, "They've been on the pile. They don't see any evidence of gas, antifreeze or even a horn."

That plan changed when they received another call.

Cook said they "put the word to media and another witnessed called saying they were the car behind the rubble."

With no indication of a car being trapped, next comes the daunting task of clean up.

Cook said, "They’ll be huge pieces that they'll be hauling out of here."

That's not the only headache. Portions of Route 4 and neighboring intersections will be closed. Alternate routes are advised.

Cook said it’s "Not going to be open to any vehicles of any kind."

Detours can be expected through Tuesday evening as the hauling and investigation continues.
