ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Albany Colonie Regional Chamber re-arranges some furniture to bring a new approach to the mayor's annual address.
Instead of using a podium, Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings took a seat for Tuesday morning's meeting. He and chamber leaders discussed the year's successes, such as GlobalFoundries and nanotechnology investments. They also discussed challenges, including revitalizing Albany's downtown.
"Obviously financial," Mayor Jennings said. "There are challenges in every city across the state. How do we deal with getting our kids a more positive experience in our schools so that more graduate than there are right now. Those are bigger challenges that we have to look at and we're going to continue to focus on."
Despite its challenges, Jennings said business leaders should be upbeat about all the area's marketable assets.
