NEW YORK STATE -- Dozens of playgrounds across the state are getting some renovations. Through the New York Works initiative, funding is being made available to update, fix or create more than 50 playgrounds at state parks.
Here in our area, new playgrounds will be created at three parks.
At Schoharie Crossing State Park, the playground will be located near the picnic grove with structures that mimic canal boats and mules.
At John Boyd Thacher State Park, the new playground will be in the horseshoe two area and feature two 80 foot zip lines, cable climbers and climbing boulders.
And finally at, Saratoga Spa State Park, there will be a new nature themed playground.
Governor Andrew Cuomo says the goal is to provide a safe place for children to play and to promote a healthy, active lifestyle.
