FULTON COUNTY, N.Y. -- Chairman of the Fulton County Board of Supervisors, Michael Gendron, said, "We are here today to unveil a new business development marketing plan for Fulton County."
The Board of Supervisors and the Center for Regional Growth are teaming up with one common goal in mind.
"The plan puts marketing as our primary focus and starts the process to dissolve the CIC and the EDC," said Gendron.
The CRG is the parent company to the Crossroads Incubator and the Economic Development Corporation. Once they've dissolved, Chairman Dustin Swanger tells us the agency will focus primarily on promoting the county.
"We have reasonable property. We have two great cities. We have resources," said Swanger.
And one of their primary marketing focuses will be on the soon-to-be Tryon Technology Park, which has the potential to offer hundreds of jobs.
Swanger said, "That site is very developmental. There’s a lot of infrastructure there already and we're running out of shovel ready sites in this county."
The plan makes the CRG more accountable to the county.
"The CRG will have to develop a marketing plan and submit it to the county in January 2013 and at that time the board of supervisors will review what they've submitted and ultimately say yes or no to it," said Fulton County Planning Director James Mraz.
The two organizations are still negotiating a contract, but leaders say they're finally on the road to prosperity.
