UNITED STATES -- More than two decades worth of documents identifying child predators within the Boy Scouts of America have finally been made public. The decision to release the files was made in Oregon Supreme Court.

They cover a 20 year period between 1965 and 1985 and include information on more than a thousand Scout masters and volunteers who were banned because of sexual assault accusations or inappropriate contact with boys.

Nearly 350 of the cases were in New York State, with dozens from each region.

The attorneys who sued for the release of these files is also pushing for the Boy Scouts to voluntarily release the documents covering 1985 to last year. A judge in Texas ordered their release earlier this month, but the organization is expected to appeal.
