SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The American Heart Association will host their Heart Walk in Saratoga Springs tomorrow. Subway is a big sponsor of the event, and here in the Capital Region, the man promoting the walk is a face many associate with the Eat Fresh Franchise.
Jared Fogle visited Milton Terrace North Elementary School in Ballston Spa. Before that though, he made a stop at our studio. He told us that he planned to speak to the children about developing healthy eating habits. He stresses the importance of physical activity because of his own personal struggle in the past with weight control.
"I share with them the mistakes I made when I was growing up. The mistakes I made, the sedentary lifestyle I developed playing video games, the large amounts of junk food and fast food I got used to eating. And I how I wound up ultimately weighing over 425 pounds by doing that by the time I was 20 years old. So they can learn from my mistakes and never have to wind up wearing this pair of 60 inch pants like I did," said Fogle.
Fogle says the Heart Walk is the number one fundraiser every year for local chapters of the American Heart Association. He says the goal of tomorrow's walk is to raise more than $200,000.
