BALLSTON LAKE, N.Y. -- A historic Saratoga County restaurant closed it's doors for good. Saturday was a bittersweet day for Rosemary Carney, the owner of Carney's in Ballston Lake.

Carney and her husband, who passed away earlier in the year, opened the restaurant three decades ago. However, even before it was their restaurant, the building was home to a number of popular establishments. All day on Saturday, people stopped by to wish her well, and have their favorite meal one last time. Rosemary said the customer's have given her just as much as she's given them.

"I feel very bittersweet, I've loved every moment here. I've enjoyed so many people, I've watched kids grow up, and go away to college," remembered Rosemary. "I feel very privileged to have been part of this building for 30 years."

Rick Reynolds, Ballston Town Historian, added, "This is a celebration for Rosemary Carney, who's been doing this for 30 years. She deserves a break, and we appreciate everything she's done for this town."

Carney said she will make sure that whoever takes over the building carries on its rich tradition.
