Jets and Bills fall in dramatic fashion; Giants outlast Redskins
A mixed bag for area football fans yesterday as the Giants, Bills, and Jets were all involved in dramatic finishes.
First to the Meadowlands, where the Giants had their hands full with rookie sensation Robert Griffin, III and the Washington Redskins. It took a 77-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Victor Cruz in the game's final minutes to lift the reigning Super Bowl champs to victory. The Giants took the game 27-23 to improve to 5-2 on the season.
Everything seemed to be going in the Bills' favor until Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a late game interception to give the Titans the ball with three minutes to go. From there, a touchdown pass from Matt Hasselbeck to Nate Washington gave the Titan's a 35-34 lead and eventual win. Buffalo falls to 3-4 on the season.
And finally up in New England, the Jets used some magic of their own to get back in the game late. But the Patriots kicked a field goal to take the lead in overtime. After that, New England then recovered a Mark Sanchez fumble to secure the 29-26 win. The Jets fall to 3-4. They face Miami next weekend at home.
