ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany announced plans for the 2012 Cash for Coats Drive. It is a community based program that collects money to purchase new winter clothing for kids in Albany schools.

"Coats, scarves, gloves. All the things that are necessary in this cold weather," said Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings. "Believe me, there are a lot of kids that need it, and we are going to continue to work together to do what is best for our kids."

The program benefits kids from kindergarten through fifth grade. If you would like to donate, you can head to city hall any time between now and November 1. The Albany Devils will also be taking donations at Friday's game.
