ALBANY, N.Y. -- One of the biggest holiday traditions in the Capital Region celebrates 16 years this year.

The annual Capital Holiday Lights takes place in Albany's Washington Park. Price Chopper is the new title sponsor. Hannaford held the title for several years.

This year's theme is “A Sweet 16 Celebration."

"Here we are 16 years later. It has grown to become the area’s premier holiday event, bringing 140,000 people to the City of Albany on an annual basis with their families to celebrate everything the holidays have to offer," said Lenny Ricchiuti of the Albany Police Athletic League.

This year's lights will run from November 23rd through January 4th. Proceeds from this event benefit the Albany Police Athletic League.
