Western Gateway Bridge project in Schenectady
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The Western Gateway Bridge in Schenectady is getting a $17 million overhaul. It's part of a $31 million contract through the New York Works program for critical repairs to 13 bridges in the Capital Region and North Country.
The project includes the construction of a new shared lane to connect bicycle and pedestrian pathways on both sides of the Mohawk River. Traffic will be reduced to one lane each way during the work.
The project is expected to take more than a year to finish.
