ALBANY, N.Y. -- "Don't Hesitate to Designate." That's the message Albany County leaders are pushing during their Halloween STOP DWI blanket patrol.
While law enforcement officials don't usually announce patrols, they say they wanted to outline details of this particular patrol in an effort to better educate people about the importance of a designated driver.
"There's a lot of kids on the roadway, there's a lot of traffic, there's also a lot of activity in the local bars, there's a lot of pub crawls, there's a lot of different things going on, there's booze cruises still going on this time of year. We feel the need to announce this sweep to make sure our children our safe, make sure the commuters in the Capital District are safe," Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said.
The patrol runs from this Friday through Sunday of next weekend.
