CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- A ribbon cutting was held for a new emergent medical facility in Clifton Park.
The facility, operated by Ellis Medicine, will provide services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as well as primary care and several specialty physicians.
There are also advanced imaging services on site, including MRI, CT and ultrasound machines, as well as on-site labs.
Officials say it provides a higher level of care than what currently exists in the area. They say while this is not an emergency room, it will operate in much the same way.
“We're going to function, really, with emergency department level care. We're going to provide services that you would get as if you came into an emergency department, but it's not officially designated as an emergency department. So you would be seeing emergency department physicians, emergency department nurses, emergency department drugs and equipment that would be typically seen in a full-fledged ED,” said Dr. Roger Barrowman.
While the ribbon cutting was held Friday, the facility officially opens for patients just after midnight Monday morning.
