HUDSON VALLEY -- Commuting in and around the Hudson Valley will be a challenge over the next 24 to 48 hours. Officials are asking that you limit all unnecessary travel once the storm starts moving into the region.
The MTA has suspended all of their services, including Metro North trains, the Long Island Rail Road, the city subway system, and bus service as of p.m. Sunday. PATH Trains into and out of New Jersey have stopped running as of today. The Port Authority has also suspended bus service until further notice at the bus terminal in Manhattan. Port Authority Airports, including Stewart International, JFK, Newark, and Laguardia are open, though air carriers have ceased operations until further notice.
Trains to the airport, however, have been suspended. Anyone who had trips planned on Amtrak will have to find another way to their destination. All trains originating from the northeast were suspended starting at 7 p.m. Sunday. The company is not providing alternate transportation, but they are providing refunds or vouchers for future trips.
Drivers who have to hit the roads should be careful. Many of the bridges around the Hudson Valley will have speed restrictions, or could be shut down all together. It’s the same with the Lincoln and Holland tunnels in New York City.
