ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- One of the higher elevations in the Capital Region hit by Sandy was Thatcher Park in the Helderbergs. It kept people off the trails for most of the day, but a few meteorology students wanted to feel the hurricane firsthand.
"It's a bittersweet gift because it's amazing to see it unfold and to understand it, but it's also hard when you know people who live in the area and getting affected by it. I think the next few months of studying this storm will be very interesting," they said.
Experts say the mountaintop park will see gusts of up to 60 miles an hour.
