HUDSON VALLEY -- Orange and Rockland says it will be another week, if not longer, before most customers in Orange and Sullivan counties get their power back.
Spokeswoman Maria Pallard says 50,000 customers are without power in the area. According to Pallard, the storm devastated the utility company's transmissions and substations. She does stress that utility crews are working around the clock to restore service.
"We're making some progress. Significantly we've been able to repair our substations, 17 of which were impacted during the storm. That is very important because once their energized we will be able to make a lot of progress towards our distribution," said Pallard.
Pallard also says Orange and Rockland basically needs to rebuild their electrical system.
