NEW YORK -- A new Siena poll on the state Senate races shows a tight contest for a few candidates across the state.

In the 43rd Congressional district race, the poll finds Republican Kathy Marchione has the support of 40 percent of voters, compared to 29 percent for Roy McDonald, and 25 percent for Democrat Robin Andrews.

McDonald lost the Republican primary and remains on the ballot on the Independence Party line.

In the 46th district race, Republican Assemblyman George Amedore leads Democratic Cecilia Tkaczyk 47 to 44 percent.

Analysts say this one will come down to the wire.

Steve Greenberg of the Siena Research Institute said, "This is a really tight race. Amedore hasn't hit the magic 50. There is still 9 percent of voters undecided. Tkaczyk is not as well known as Amedore."

The new 46th Senate district spans Albany, Schenectady, Ulster, Greene, and Montgomery counties.
