ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany County Executive Dan McCoy returns from a deployment downstate after helping with Sandy relief efforts. He left for Long Island and returned to the Capital Region on Friday.

McCoy is a member of the National Guard. He said the damage was unlike anything he's ever seen.

"We saw a jet ski in the middle of the highway, boats wrapped around houses, cars alone, the damage to done to the cars, had debris under them. It was tough to look at and see that these people are just trying to stay strong and rebuild. As Governor Cuomo said, it's going be a long process for us," said McCoy.

The county executive has organized a drop off location at the county office building. Residents are encouraged to donate items that will be transported to areas affected by Sandy.
