TROY, N.Y. -- Opening statements will begin Friday morning in the voter fraud trial in Troy.

Former Democratic Elections Commissioner Ed McDonough has been charged with forging ballots to secure the working families party line for the democrats in the 2009 Troy City Council Elections. Twelve jurors and three alternates were seated earlier this week.

McDonough was tried earlier this year, along with a co-defendant, former Troy City Councilman Michael LoPorto. That trial ended in a mistrial in March and Judge Pulver ordered the two defendants be tried separately. LoPorto has since been acquitted.
