Party planners' shopping days are limited at a favorite local store. The owner of The Party Warehouse has announced they're going out business. Our Maria Valvanis spoke with shoppers about the news and has more on why the owner says he is closing the doors for good.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- "Birthday balloons, it's a specific balloon and they don't carry it anywhere else, so I guess we're going to have to find someplace new, or try and figure out where they come from," said JoAnne Riley.

It's bitter sweet news for shoppers at the Party Warehouse, the unbeatable sales are keeping everyone's wallet happy, but the reason behind them is quite the contrary.

"We're closing after 25 years, we have a store in Clifton Park and in Springfield MA, that we closed last Friday, and this store we're starting to do a going out business sale."

Owner Jerry Sykes blames the economy and nearly two years of road construction for steering customers away.

"I prefer to shop here but at times I was like I'm not dealing with this, so the construction prohibited me from shopping here a few times," said Taleesha Bland.

Sykes said, "The road work cost us easily over the last two years 20 percent of our business."

And even though construction is over now, Sykes says the damage is already done. We spoke with County and State officials who didn't want to give an official comment, but do say they did their best to accommodate area businesses. Either way, the next time you're looking for a spooky scarecrow, or maybe just some decorative cupcake liners, you're going to have to go someplace else.

Beth McIntyre said, "I have to find somewhere else, or go online unfortunately, instead of shopping local."

The store hasn't set an official closing date yet, Sykes tells us that all depends on how fast he can empty the shelves.
