CAPITAL REGION -- The holiday season is a busy time of year for charities and food banks across the country. While this time of year tends to bring in big donations and lots of volunteers, the need remains all year long.

The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York is once again encouraging people to take part in its annual Holiday Hunger Appeal drive.

Regional Food Bank Executive Director Mark Quandt said, "I would say there have been years, during December we receive 25 percent of our annual contributions. So between November and December it is typically that way. We might get 30 percent or more of our annual contributions in those two months. It is a very important time for us from a financial donation perspective."

Holiday Hunger Appeal volunteers will be at Crossgates Mall from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. every day until Christmas Eve collecting monetary donations.

YNN and our parent company Time Warner Cable are sponsors of the program.
