ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Capital City Mission served up to almost 2,000 Thanksgiving meals on Thursday. Turkey, stuffing, vegetables and more were on the menu. But there were more benefits for those who attended.

More than a dozen medical students, residents and faculty from Albany Med were also at the Mission. They gave out flu shots and other health related information.

"And I want to thank the community. This is made possible by the generosity of the greater Capital Region. Our mayor is here today, Jerry Jennings has been a wonderful help to us as well, so I just want to thank god for all of the people helping," said Perry Jones.

Those unable to donate their time were able to pitch in during the days leading up to the dinner. A donation of just $2.05 cents paid for one hot meal.
