POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Poughkeepsie Common Council will hold a news conference Wednesday at 10:30 am to announce proposed amendments to Mayor Tkazyik's 2013 budget.

The city faces a four million dollar budget gap, a situation made more difficult by Dutchess County's cap of the amount of sales tax revenues they will give to local municipalities.

Last month, Mayor Tkazyik proposed a job cutting budget that would eliminate sanitation and garbage pickup. He also offered a 'pay-as-you-throw' reduced service.

Common Council chair Gwen Johnson plans to offer up a third proposal which she said will save all 18 proposed job cuts and stay within the two percent tax cap.
