Jets edge Cardinals thanks to backup QB McElroy

By: Web Staff

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- After 45 minutes of dismal offense, Jets fans finally jumped to their feet with excitement in the fourth quarter. The excitement came after a one yard touchdown by Jeff Cumberland from the Jets' back up quarterback, Greg McElroy.

After only throwing for 97 yards and three interceptions, Mark Sanchez was replaced by McElroy which had Jets fans celebrating in the stands. Second string quarterback Tim Tebow was inactive due to injury.

The Jets defense was able to hold the Cardinals to just one more field goal to edge out a win, 7-6. Shonn Greene contributed 104 yards rushing while Stephen Hill led the team with five receptions for 40 yards.

The Jets are now 5-7 on the season. They'll look to climb closer to the .500 mark when they head to Jacksonville next week.
