NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Two Newburgh residents are in the hospital following a burglary at their home over the weekend.

Town of Newburgh police say two suspects broke into an elderly couple's home and were brutally beaten and then had money and their car stolen from their home. They say the 78- and 72-year-old couple were held for a little more than half an hour before they were hit across the head and the face.

Their car was found in the city, but the suspects have yet to be found.

The suspects are described as two men in their 20s dressed in dark clothes and ski masks and were armed with hand guns.

Anyone with information is asked to call Town of Newburgh police at 564-1100.
