NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- The Newburgh City School District has received a $2.5 million grant from the state Department of Education.
The school says it will use the funds at Temple Hill Academy. There, they will work with several community organizations to help students develop job skills and offer more summer and after school programs. Those organizations include The Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center, the Boys and Girls Club, and Mount Saint Mary College.
The school also plans to expand its anti-tobacco education and offer access to more affordable, healthy foods.
Newburgh is one of three districts in the state to receive this year's funds. Rochester and Schenectady City School Districts also received the grant.
