ALBANY, N.Y. -- Parking permits for residents in several of Albany's neighborhoods don't go into effect until next month, but officials are reminding people to get their new parking permits beforehand.

The city's parking system is scheduled to start January 15th. City officials began issuing the permits to residents of three zones.

A permit costs $25 and businesses can purchase up to three of them. Residents can purchase one visitor parking pass for $10. They are available at the City Clerk's office inside City Hall.

So far, the city has sold 800 decals.
