KINGSTON, N.Y. -- Some people in Kingston kicked off the holiday weekend, spending part of their Saturday riding on a special holiday train.

The holiday train departed from the Westbrook Station at Kingston Plaza and took passengers around the city. They got to enjoy a Christmas themed ride, which also included a special appearance by St. Nick himself.

"With the Polar Express and the whole interest in railroads, Thomas the Tank Engine and all that, there's been a lot of enthusiasm about railroads. We get a lot of grandparents with children and stuff like that. That's a great percentage of our riders, I think," said Earl Pardini, Catskill Mountain Railroad President.

The railroad company runs special trains at different times throughout the year.
