SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Team USA will take on Czech Republic in the first round of the playoffs but they'll be without Shayne Gostisbehere.

The defenseman from Union has been suspended for one game following a major penalty plus game misconduct during USA's game against Slovakia.

The IIHF Disciplinary Panel said Gostisbehere needs to be held accountable for his actions. The decision came after the panel reviewed referee reports and video of the penalty.

Team USA will face Czech Republic on Wednesday, January 2nd in the Quarterfinals.
