2012: Albany's warmest year since 1820

ALBANY, N.Y. -- 2012 goes down as the warmest year on record in Albany in almost 200 years. According to the National Weather Service the average temperature in Albany for the year was 51.6 degrees.

Temperatures last year were 3.1 degrees above normal, making it the warmest year since 1820. Albany also had 13 days with temperatures that broke 90 degrees. The hottest day last year was July 17th at 98 degrees.

Average year temperatures are also breaking records in major cities in the Northeast. 57 degrees in New York City, 54 degrees in Chicago and 61 degrees in Washington, D.C.
