NEW YORK -- Consumer confidence dropped two points to round out 2012. But according to the latest Siena poll, consumer confidence is 10 points above what it was a year ago.

In December, buying plans were down for cars and trucks, computers, furniture, homes and major home improvements. Democrats, the youth and New York City shoppers had the highest overall confidence and the largest gains over the last year.

The poll also shows gas worries are down and New Yorkers are optimistic as a new year begins. But concerns about the cost of food are up.
