NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- It was a special delivery for a woman in the Town of Newburgh, resulting in the birth of a baby boy at the Mobil Mart on 17K.

Town of Newburgh police were dispatched to the Mobil around 5:30 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found the mother in labor. The two responding officers assisted with the delivery of the seven pound, four ounce baby boy, Jacob.

The baby's grandmother was also there and witnessed the birth from the backseat of the car.

"She gave birth within ten, fifteen minutes. The cop kneeled right down next to her and told her ‘I was there to help you, I'll do everything I can. Go ahead have your baby. I'm gonna do it. I'm here to help you,’” said Delilah Way, Jacob’s grandmother.

Baby Jacob and his mother were transported to the Newburgh campus of St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. Both are doing just fine.
