GLENS FALLS, N.Y. -- The City of Glens Falls is trying to secure an American Hockey League team for the long term, whether it's the Phantoms or not. This as the Adirondack Phantoms agreed to a one year lease extension earlier this week to play at the Civic Center through next season.

The team was scheduled to relocate to Allentown, Pennsylvania, closer to their parent club the Philadelphia Flyers, however, construction delays have put a halt to that plan, for the time being at least.

It's a conditional lease, meaning if another AHL franchise agrees to relocate to Glens Falls at some point next season, the Phantoms lease can be shortened.

"We've got to continue to work hard, we've got to bring a stronger base back to the Glens Falls Civic Center, as far as season tickets and as far as corporate sponsorships," said Glens Falls Mayor Jack Diamond.

It will be the fifth year the Phantoms have played at the Civic Center and the 25th season Glens Falls is hosting an AHL team.
