Troy fire chief involved in crash

TROY, N.Y. -- A Troy firefighter is recovering after crashing on his way to a call.

The fire department says Battalion Chief Ray Davis hit a car moments after pulling out of the station Saturday night. Chief Tom Garrett says Davis was headed up Sixth Avenue when he hit a car in the Jacob Street intersection.

Firefighters in vehicles driving behind Davis said the chief's SUV had lights and sirens on, but the driver of the other car did not stop.

Davis was taken to Albany Medical Center. The other driver, who was ticketed, was taken to Samaritan Hospital.
