SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A man is in police custody in connection with the death of a former nun Mary Greco in Schenectady, according to Schenectady County District Attorney Robert Carney.

Carney says no charges have been filed just yet and that the suspect is being held on an unrelated charge.

"People should breathe a little easier at this point that we have identified the person responsible. We can't say there were others responsible as well, at this point. As I say, the investigation continues, but he is in custody," Carney said.

Carney says he'll release more information in a few weeks.

The 82-year-old Greco was found dead by her landlord inside her Stanford Street home on New Year's Day. Police say her car was found in the parking lot of St. John the Evangelist Church soon after her body was found.
