HIGHLAND, N.Y. -- Kingston Assemblyman Kevin Cahill is speaking out against fees for the Walkway over the Hudson. This comes while the Bridge Authority brainstorms how to get money for walkway repairs.
Cahill says he wants to "crush" the idea of an entrance fee by talking about funding alternatives now. He suggests the Bridge Authority can get revenue through advertising on bridges and the marketing of fiber optic services.
Cahill admits the fiscal burden facing the Bridge Authority is "very real." He says he spoke with Bridge Authority board members, who say there are currently no proposals for a fee.
