BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. -- The man who now faces criminal charges in connection with a car crash that killed two Shenendehowa High School students and injured two other teens more than a month ago was released from jail Tuesday on bond.

Dennis Drue, 22, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Monday in Saratoga County Court to all 59 counts against him, 52 of which are felonies.

Drue faces charges ranging from vehicular homicide to second degree manslaughter, following the December 1st crash on the Northway, just north of the Twin Bridges.

Saratoga County District Attorney Jim Murphy did not reveal the exact results of toxicology screens conducted on Drue, but said a blood test showed he had alcohol and drugs in his system. Murphy says under common law DWI statutes, prosecutors don't have to show the level of drugs or alcohol in Drue's blood exceeded legal limits.
