HIGHLAND, N.Y. -- Local restaurants sent their best dishes to the 15th annual Highland Rail Trail Winterfest.

The event featured a chili cook off, where 23 cooks duked it out for the honor of winning "best of fest." In addition to the food, there were wagon rides and activities for the kids.

All of the proceeds from the day's events go towards maintaining the rail trail.

"We've been buying benches along the rail trail that need to get in. We've been fixing blacktop if it needs to be fixed. And we're trying to raise money to extend the rail trail out toward New Paltz," said Laurianne Marion, Chairperson the Highland Rail Trail Winterfest.

Marion says while it was a bit muddy, it was still a great day to enjoy the family friendly event.
