PITTSFIELD, MA -- There's still no word on what caused a fire in the City of Pittsfield.

Firefighters were called to a home on Montgomery Avenue around 4:30pm Sunday for a report of smoke in the building.

They said the fire heavily damaged the interior of the second floor and the rear of the home. Three people were able to escape. One firefighter was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The fire company said the residents were alerted of the fire by a smoke detector.
