NEW ORLEANS, La. -- A local woman was found dead in New Orleans, the victim of a violent beating.

Lauren Tanski, 27, went to Colonie High School in 2004. Tanski's aunt told YNN she had only been in New Orleans for two months, having moved there with friends to find a job. The family also said that New Orleans police have someone in custody, but they are waiting for more details from police.

An autopsy will be performed on Tanski's body on Tuesday.
