KINGSTON, N.Y. -- The City of Kingston mayor held his first meet and greet session of the New Year. These listening sessions are organized by Mayor Shayne Gallo on a regular basis, and they're something residents have come to look forward to.
Dozens of community members stopped by the visitor’s center in downtown Kingston to talk about a number of issues from snow removal to garbage pickup. Mayor Gallo says public safety is another hot topic, especially on the heels of a major drug bust in the city that put more than 20 people behind bars.
"We're not going to accept it. As I stated the other day, as I stated last year, Kingston is not open for business. We're not going to accept their poison in our community and we aren't going to accept how they disrupt everyone's family and everyone's block," said Mayor Gallo.
The mayor commended the Kingston Police Department, Ulster County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Corrections for all of their hard work.
