SAUGERTIES, N.Y. -- Saugerties Police arrested a man after getting reports he was following people in his car and gesturing that he was pointing a handgun at them. It happened Saturday night near Harry Wells Road and State Route 32.

Police stopped Khalil Waheed, 20, who they say became physically and verbally abusive toward officers while they were investigating. Waheed also allegedly became violent and damaged the booking room while in custody.

Waheed has been charged with obstruction of governmental administration, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
