CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. -- New numbers from the Greater Capital Association of Realtors indicate that 2012 was a good year in the real estate market.

According to the association, the average price of a home was up three percent for the year compared to 2011. The median price of homes was up four percent. The value of people's homes also rose during 2012.

The president of the GCAR says we can expect the market for homes to continue to be strong in 2013. Appreciating prices and low interest rates are contributing factors to why it's predicted the housing market will be strong.
