TROY, N.Y. -- Troy police have arrested the man they believe is responsible for a number of car break-ins in the city.

Police say detectives approached a suspect knowing a pair of headphones he was wearing were stolen. They arrested Hiram Morales, 30, and charged him with petit larceny.

Police say Morales is involved in a recent increase in car break-ins in the Lansingburgh area. They say Morales told them objects like purses, GPS units, MP3 players left in the open are easy targets.

Further charges in connection to the car break-ins are pending.
