BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- It was an unusual day on Market Street in Binghamton as people there celebrated something rare. Friday marked Thomas Crapper's birthday, the man credited for inventing the indoor toilet.
About ten small businesses celebrated the day by collecting toilet paper in Crapper's honor. In exchange, customers received discounts on specific items in the stores.
The toilet paper doesn't go to waste either, it will be donated to the Corning Community Food Pantry.
This was the fourth year businesses on Market Street celebrated Thomas Crapper Day.
